Kachchi in Malawi
KAH-chee

During the days of the British Empire, many peoples from South Asia went to other parts of the empire, sometimes as common laborers, and other times as small-time businessmen. That included the Kachchi peoples from Gujarat. Although living conditions in the African countries vary, the Kachchis who have emigrated are usually from the higher, wealthier communities and have maintained several aspects of their own culture. Many of them work as masons and merchants. Others own small, family run shops. In Malawi, Kenya and Tanzania, they speak Kachchi at home.

Ministry Obstacles
The Kachchi people are a business community, and they seldom make time for spiritual matters.

Outreach Ideas
There is a sense among most Muslims that Allah is too distant to approach for their daily needs, so they look to spiritual forces when they have health needs, etc. Christ followers can pray for them in the name of Jesus, and they can be healed, and know the savior is powerful and loving. There are thousands of African Christians who can pray for their needs.

Scripture Focus
"For behold, he who forms the mountains and creates the wind, and declares to man what is his thought, who makes the morning darkness, and treads on the heights of the earth— the LORD, the God of hosts, is his name!"  Amos 4:13

Scripture Prayer
Pray that this people group seeks and finds the Creator and Sustainer of the universe. Pray that God’s Word become available to those who are seeking Him.

Prayer Focus
Pray for loving ambassadors of Christ to go to the Kachchi and be there for them as friends and neighbors, all the while pointing the way to the empty grave. Pray for a Disciple Making Movement among the Kachchis in Malawi.
