Musi in Indonesia
moo-SEE

The Musi name comes from the Musi river along which the people live, in the regencies of Musi Banyuasin and Musi Rawas. Almost all of the Musi are Muslim. Building a house of worship other than a mosque is not allowed in the Musi area by the local government. Marriage between people of different religions is not allowed. The non-Muslim partner must change their religion to Islam. The people follow the Islamic religion because it has been passed down to them and is a part of their culture and not because they understand it or have faith in it. Because of this, religious worship is not an important factor in their lives but rather, it is a part of their identity.

Ministry Obstacles
The Musi strongly resist the presence of a religion other than Islam.

Outreach Ideas
We should pray the Musi Christians will grow in maturity and in numbers such that they can effectively carry the good news of Jesus to all of their own people.

Scripture Focus
"And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the LORD has spoken."  Isaiah 40:5

Scripture Prayer
Pray that members of this people group will soon see the glory of the Lord and respond to it.

Prayer Focus
There are reported Christians among the Musi people. Please pray they will not be ostracized or persecuted by their Muslim neighbors, but will be faithful witnesses to the goodness of Christ to all those around them. Please pray the Musi people will gain no satisfaction from following a religion of works, and instead will yearn to know the love of a God who will relate to them as persons.
