Chauhan in India
show-HAHN

The Hindu Chauhans give special devotion to the goddess Durga, who embodies local gods and demons associated with mountains, plants and fire. Their name comes from a past ruler, and they belong to the Kshatriya caste, just below the high Brahmin priestly caste. They earn their living in farming, business, and banking. Even though they are Kshatriya, they seek upward mobility through marriage, especially the women.

Ministry Obstacles
Ministry obstacles are few, but significant. Because they speak Hindi, they do not stand out; they are truly a "hidden people" whose caste pride, devotion to Durga, and upward mobility leaves no room for Jesus Christ. There are no known Chauhan believers to witness to them.

Outreach Ideas
Outreach should focus on the JESUS Film, radio and television, Scripture distribution, and especially faithful prayer.

Scripture Focus
"They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds, and I will declare your greatness."  Psalm 145:6

Scripture Prayer
Thank Him for His awe-inspiring deeds!

Prayer Focus
Pray that the Hindi-speaking churches in their areas would see these "hidden people" and seek to witness to them until there is a movement to Christ. Pray that God would open their hearts and minds to the gospel, that the JESUS Film would be viewed by many, and that many would read the Scriptures and respond positively. Pray for dreams and visions that will help them to realize that there is no God but Jesus.
