Jogi (Hindu traditions) in Bangladesh

As followers of yoga, they traditionally wear saffron-colored clothing. The Jogi are made up of purely religious mendicants (i.e., beggars) of the various Jogi orders, various people who live by fortune telling, practicing exorcisms and divination, and others. In Muslim Bangladesh, these prestigious Hindus stand out. Most likely Muslims in Bangladesh feel that such people are a threat to having Bangladesh be a pure Muslim land.

Ministry Obstacles
There are only a few believers within this people group. They are not very approachable for those outside their community.

Outreach Ideas
It will take much prayer to break down the spiritual barriers before anyone attempts to reach out to the Jogi people.

Pray for the followers of Christ
A few from the Jogi community have reported themselves as Christians to the census in the country where they reside. Please pray the Lord will show them they can indeed be united with the Supreme Being, through trust in God's Son, Jesus Christ.

Pray for the entire people group
* Pray the Jogi will be able to find employment to enable them to improve their standard of living. Pray they will be able to escape a begging mentality. * Pray that there will be many Christian workers called by God to take the gospel to the Jogis in Bangladesh. * Pray for the Holy Spirit to touch the hearts of the Jogi people in Bangladesh in such a way that they will understand that they must submit to the risen Christ. * Pray that the Lord will use the Jogi people to spread His word in India and Bangladesh.

Scripture Focus
"For I will not presume to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me, resulting in the obedience of the Gentiles by word and deed." Romans 15:18
