Isan Thai in Iceland
ee-SAHN tye

A very small number of Thai Isan people have immigrated to Iceland. Those who went seeking work have had little success. However, women who came to marry local men have integrated well. Because of their small numbers, there are no associations to help preserve their culture. The Thai Isan are being assimilated into Iceland's secular culture.

Ministry Obstacles
The vast majority of the Thai Isan are Buddhist. The New Testament is available in their language but the complete Bible has yet to be translated. Buddhism is what remains of their culture, and many want to cling to it.

Outreach Ideas
The Thai Isan people in Iceland are torn between their Buddhist past and their present secularized life. They need someone to tell them that Jesus is the only way, the truth and the life.

Scripture Focus
"By me kings reign, and rulers decree what is just; by me princes rule, and nobles, all who govern justly."  Proverbs 8:15-16

Scripture Prayer
Pray that this truth will put the fear of God in the hearts of all who hold power.

Prayer Focus
Pray for the few believers among the Isan Thai to grow in the Lord and share their faith until many follow Christ. Pray for the Holy Spirit to move among the Thai Isan, preparing their hearts to receive the gospel message. Pray for Christ followers to make disciples who will make more disciples.
