Tarkhan (Sikh traditions) in India

Tarkhans have traditionally been carpenters, and are now one of the wealthier and best educated communities in India. They are described as a proud and very independent people. Tarkhans have a history of brave service in the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. The British considered the Tarkhans as one of the martial races. They may marry outside their own community, and they have many sub-castes and clans. There are Hindu, Muslim, and Sikh Tarkhan communities.

Ministry Obstacles
Pride keeps many people from humbly accepting the gift of forgiveness of sin as offered through faith in Jesus Christ. The Tarkhan have been described as a proud community.

Outreach Ideas
Please pray for concerted movements of prayer directed toward the Sikhs of India.

Pray for the followers of Christ
Even though there are likely no followers of Jesus within this Sikh community at this time, it's not too early to pray for future believers. Pray the Lord will give them much understanding of spiritual matters and much faith to believe. Pray they will become zealous disciples of Jesus, living holy lives in obedience to Christ's commands.

Pray for the entire people group
Please pray this people group will not be blinded to their spiritual need by pride.

Scripture Focus
"Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, and the very ends of the earth as Your possession." Psalm 2:8
