Maba in Chad
MAH-bah

The Maba are one of the larger non-Arab people groups in Chad. They have lived mostly in the Ouaddai region of eastern Chad for centuries, mostly around the major market city of Abeche. Unlike cultures that assimilate the ways of their conquerors, historically, the Maba were not weakened by invasions, remaining a dominant people. These rural people have about 600 villages today.

Ministry Obstacles
The Maba have been Muslims for three centuries. Besides being economically significant, Abeche city is also a highly influential Islamic center in Chad. The city and its people, mostly Maba, exhibit hostility toward the grace of the gospel.

Outreach Ideas
The Maba are very influential on Chad's Muslim population. Efforts to reach them would probably influence another ten unreached Muslim people groups living in their region.

Scripture Focus
"Bless our God, O peoples; let the sound of his praise be heard,"  Psalm 66:8

Scripture Prayer
Pray that today’s people group will loudly sing His praises to other nations.

Prayer Focus
Pray for Maba believers to be filled with the power and the fruit of the Holy Spirit so they can overcome spiritual opposition and take Christ to their Muslim neighbors. Pray for Maba elders and family leaders to have a spiritual hunger that will open them to the ways of Jesus Christ. Pray for many disciples in every Maba village in Chad and Sudan. Pray that a movement to Christ would bless the Maba people in every way, causing African Muslims around them to consider the claims of Christ.
