Embera-Baudo in Colombia

The Baudo is a subgroup of the greater Embera people who live in Colombia and Panama. The Baudo only live in Colombia. There are many parts of Colombia that have no government control, so the local people are in danger of drug lords and other criminals. The Embera-Baudo live near rivers, which provide for much of their needs. They do much of their work, fishing and trading from skillfully made dugout canoes. They live in thatch-roofed homes and have an egalitarian (equal voice) form of decision making.

Ministry Obstacles
The Embera-Baudo do not have the resources to defend themselves against outsiders, and they remain in danger. For obvious reasons, they view outsiders as a threat. Unfortunately, those who take the gospel to the Embera-Baudo will be met with the same suspicion as others.

Outreach Ideas
It will take indigenous peoples who love the Lord to go to the Embera-Baudo people as Christ bearers. There are some audio recordings in their language to spread the gospel.

Pray that those who follow the Lord among this people group will never return to their old ways.

Prayer Focus
Pray for the Holy Spirit to raise up indigenous Christ bearers to share the truth with the Embera-Baudo. Pray for the Lord to prepare workers with valuable skills such as helping with medical needs. Pray for the Lord to prepare Embera-Baudo hearts to hear and respond to Jesus Christ.
