Chhipa (Sikh traditions) in India
chee-PAH

A Chhipa can be a Sikh, Hindu or a Muslim. Confusing? We can only imagine the spiritual confusion caused by three major religions within one people group. The word "Chhipa" means to print, and their main occupations deal with dyeing and printing fabrics in red, blue and black patterns. The Chhipa live mainly in northwestern India and speak Urdu, Hindi and various local dialects. They favor marriages between cousins.

Ministry Obstacles
The three different religions within this people group are a huge obstacle. Do Christian workers present a fourth religion that would add more confusion? Presenting the gospel message in a way that will touch their hearts and introduce them to their true Savior who died for them will be a challenge.

Outreach Ideas
Christian workers can share Bible stories, the JESUS Film, and other visual stories with children and their parents.

Scripture Focus
"O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens."  Psalm 8:1

Scripture Prayer
Help this people group to know from the heart and the head that the Lord is great!

Prayer Focus
Pray that the Chhipa people would see the futility of their conflicting religions and seek and find the only Savior. Pray for the Holy Spirit to anoint Chhipa families, especially the children and the youth, and to raise up a new generation of fruitful, multiplying witnesses of Jesus Christ's mercy and love.
