Sargara in India
SARR-gah-rah

The Sargara are identified as a landless community in India, traditionally splitting and selling wood. They believe in Hinduism as a faith. Following Jesus is viewed as a violation or turning away from community norms, leading to ostracism and fines for those who break the community’s established rules. There are no known followers of Christ among the Sargara today.

Ministry Obstacles
The Sargara face major barriers to surrendering to the gospel of Jesus Christ due to their strict community traditions and adherence to Hindu practices. Ostracism and disfavor deter individuals from exploring the Christian faith. Moreover, their landless status and livelihood dependence on wood splitting may leave them struggling to meet basic needs, which further causes them to move away from external influences, including Christian outreach.

Scripture Focus
"Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven."  Revelation 12:7-8

Scripture Prayer
Pray for this people group to understand that the Lord of hosts had already defeated the dragon, Satan, and his demons.

Prayer Focus
Pray for the Lord to draw Christian members of the Sargara community to himself, granting them an understanding of Jesus’ sacrificial love and forgiveness. Pray they will experience the depth of Christ’s love and be empowered to live in his grace, not their works. Pray for community leaders to encounter God’s blessings and the community toward Christ’s provision. Pray for a spiritual hunger among the Sargara community to worship the Creator.
