Northern Kurds in Iraq

The northeast border of Iraq is part of a large Kurdish population of clans, tribes, and confederacies which have existed for thousands of years. They share several important and common ties of language, culture, homeland, and identity. They fought ISIS valiantly, and at great cost. They are farmers, raising cattle and goats, and a people who enjoy elaborate costumes, and bright colors.

Ministry Obstacles
Almost all Kurds are Sunni; class prejudice is common in this people group. Many of the most rebellious in Kurdish society have associated with secret and unorthodox Muslim sects.

Outreach Ideas
Many Kurds have endured much suffering in recent years of war and rebellion, scarcity of water, and resultant farming problems. Medical teams and civil engineers, and educators are needed to minister to these needy people.

Pray for the followers of Christ
There are reports of hundreds of Christian believers among the Kurds of Iraq. Pray the Lord will send Spirit filled teachers to help them become true disciples of Jesus. Pray they will seize their opportunities to be Christ's representatives among their own people.

Pray for the entire people group
* Pray for the Lord to bless families among the Kurds of Iraq with His presence and mercy. * Pray for a movement of Bible studies that will beget more Bible studies with the intention of producing Kurdish disciples.
