Mazanderani in Iran
mah-zahn-dah-RAH-nee

Most Mazanderani people live on the southeastern coast of the Caspian Sea. They are primarily farmers and fishermen. They are closely related to neighboring Gilaki and Caucasian peoples, such as the Georgians and Armenians. Mazandaran was the last province in Iran to be converted to Islam. Today, nearly all Mazanderani people are Shia Muslims. The literacy rate in the Mazandarani language is quite low, but many of the people can speak and read Farsi, Iran's trade language. General education levels are low among the Mazanderani people.

Ministry Obstacles
Lack of workers who can disciple the new Mazanderani believers may be a serious problem.

Outreach Ideas
Please pray the Lord would send mature Persian believers into the rural areas of Iran to win, equip and send out Mazanderani believers.

Scripture Focus
"The LORD has bared his holy arm before the eyes of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God."  Isaiah 52:10

Scripture Prayer
Pray for today’s people group to share in the victory of the Lord by becoming part of His family.

Prayer Focus
There are now followers of Jesus among the Mazanderani people. Please pray someone would accurately teach these Christ followers how to live in the power of God's Spirit. Pray they would honor the Lord with their lives and by sharing his blessings with the Muslims. Please pray for improved levels of literacy and learning among the Mazanderani people. Pray for them to hear of and respond to Bible portions in their own language.
