Yadav (Hindu traditions) in Nepal

It's easy to find out who a Yadav is. Just ask them their name and they will tell you their first name followed by their title which is always Yadav. Previously the Yadavs were called Ahirs. The Yadav are a caste comprised of milkmen, cowherds, farmers, and laborers. Their traditional occupation is animal husbandry and selling animal products. They consist of both landowning and landless people. Some Yadavs are businessmen, teachers, doctors, engineers and political leaders.

Ministry Obstacles
Typically, believers try to win Hindu people one at a time and put them in a church fellowship. The problem with this is it isolates them from their families, and often causes family members to equate following Christ with rebellion. Believers need to patiently wait for family elders to come to Christ rather than pull people out of their natural families.

Outreach Ideas
The next generation will need to get other kinds of jobs. To get those jobs they need education, but proper education is missing in many places, especially in the villages. Believers with the right background can go to them and help them with these needs.

Pray for the followers of Christ
Pray that Yadav believes will be exemplary family members, drawing others to the foot of the cross by their example. Pray for them to weather the storm of persecution which often faces new believers.

Pray for the entire people group
* Pray that Yadav family heads will take the lead in following Christ, thus opening the door for the entire family to do the same. * Pray that Christ will show Himself just, merciful and mighty to the Yadava people.

Scripture Focus
"...that all the peoples of the earth may know that the Lord is God; there is no one else." 1 Kings 8:60
