Tiyar in Bangladesh
tee-AR

How would life be different without electricity? Most Tiyar people live in villages with little access to electricity or indoor plumbing, and the Bangladeshi government is working to improve their living conditions. The Tiyar people of Bangladesh and India are named after the Sanskrit word for "hunters."

Ministry Obstacles
The Tiyar people are Hindu, and they believe that they will achieve a form of spiritual freedom through their good deeds. They need a hunger for the spiritual freedom that only Jesus Christ can offer.

Outreach Ideas
Fortunately, the JESUS Film is available in the Tiyar's language, Bengali. Bengali-speaking believers can take this film to them.

Scripture Focus
"The LORD is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made."  Psalm 145:9

Scripture Prayer
Pray that many from this people group will understand that He is good to everyone, and His compassion has no end.

Prayer Focus
Many Tiyar are fishermen. Pray that they would deeply connect with Jesus' call to be fishers of men. When the fishing season is not good, the Tiyar people suffer greatly. Pray that they would find ways to diversify their economy so that they can rely on other industries for income. Pray that education would become more accessible, so the next generation can continue advancing their society. Pray that Jesus would captivate the hearts of key Tiyar leaders and use them to begin a movement to Christ in Bangladesh.
