Subarna Banik Bania in India

From renting out an exclusive banquet hall for a wedding to lending money to a small farmer so he could buy honeybees to improve the productivity of his crops, the Subarna Banik community is well-known throughout West Bengal. Historically to the present they are envied for their amazing business skills as money-lenders, business traders, and participants in international trading. Their disciplined nature is seen in their careful details to accounting and bookkeeping.

Ministry Obstacles
Hinduism is the cultural Identity of Subarna Baniks. They are very diverse in what they believe and in which Hindu gods they choose to honor.

Outreach Ideas
Pray for intercessors to faithfully pray for the various Bania communities until there is a movement to Christ.

"They have lyre and harp, tambourine and flute and wine at their feasts, but they do not regard the deeds of the LORD, or see the work of his hands."  Isaiah 5:12

Pray that many from this people group will notice and respond to what God is doing.

Prayer Focus
Pray for God to provide opportunities for believers to develop relationships with the Subarna Banik Banias. Pray that the Holy Spirit would move among their leaders, helping them to become what he wants them to be and using them to start a Disciple Making Movement. Pray the Holy Spirit would help them to know how being a follower of Christ could influence their lives to pursue, "…righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness" (1 Tim.6:11) instead of pursuing money.
