Kumhar (Hindu traditions) in India

The Kumhar believe they are offspring of Lord Brahma (Prajapati). This large people group traditionally earned its livelihood through the sale of earthen pots, utensils and other products. In fact, the term "kumhar" means "potter" in some languages of India.

Ministry Obstacles
The Kumhar often interpret an invitation to join the family of God as requiring them to abandon their family and people.

Outreach Ideas
The Kumhar are accessible in the marketplace, where outside laborers may apply the pattern Jesus gave in Mt. 10 of seeking a household receptive to the laborer and his message.

Pray for the followers of Christ
There are no known believers among the Kumhar, but surely God has not left Himself without a witness among the millions of Kumhar. Pray that the Kumhar who know God will become wise in sowing the Word of God among their families and multiplying the blessing of God to other Kumhar households.

Pray for the entire people group
Pray the Lord will give Kumhar families understanding and responsive hearts as they hear about the love of Christ.

Scripture Focus
