Thakkar in India

The Thakkar are mostly landless. Only a few amongst them have land. Many earn their livelihood as laborers. Some of them still practice their traditional occupation either by begging with decorated bullocks moving from one place to another, or by performing puppet shows. They are skilled in drawing, painting and carving. A few among them are educated and employed in some government organization. They perform folk-tales and folk-songs based on ancient Hindu epics.

Ministry Obstacles
As Hindus, these people have a very different idea of what the spiritual realm is like. It will take people much time to teach them how to put their faith in a God they do not know.

Outreach Ideas
This is a people group that specializes in stories and puppet shows. They would appreciate the work of talented believers who use these mediums to teach about Jesus.

Pray for the followers of Christ
Pray for Thakkur believers to have the fruit and the gifts of the Holy Spirit so they can help lead others to the Savior.

Pray for the entire people group
* Pray for the Lord to bless the families among the Thakkur people with his presence and mercy. * Pray for spiritual hunger that will lead the Thakkur people to Jesus. * Pray for Bible believing fellowships and churches among the Thakkur people.
