Kheng in Bhutan
kayng

The Kheng are found primarily in south central Bhutan and speak Khengkha. The southernmost areas inhabited by the Kheng are off-limits to foreign travelers because of the threat posed by separatist groups across the border in the Indian state of Assam.

Ministry Obstacles
The Kheng are Tibetan Buddhists, but the shamanistic Bon religion greatly influences their belief. It is very difficult for them to understand or embrace the ways of Christ.

Outreach Ideas
The few believers among the Kheng may be able to communicate the gospel message to the remainder of their people. They will need the burden, courage, love and the power of the Holy Spirit to make any inroads into this Tibetan Buddhist community.

Scripture Focus
"Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed."  Psalm 34:5

Scripture Prayer
May there be many from this people group who look only to the Lord for help, and may they be filled with joy and peace.

Prayer Focus
Pray that the few Kheng who came to Christ in the early 1990s would grow spiritually, find favor with family and friends, and safeguard the faith until the end. Pray they would have a burden for their community for the sake of Christ. Pray that the Kheng would be given the opportunity to hear the gospel in their mother tongue and in a manner they can fully understand. Pray for spiritual discernment and a hunger for truth. Pray for increased availability and use of gospel resources and workers in their own language.
