Thori (Hindu traditions) in India

The Thori are also known as Nayaks. Their oral tradition traces their descent from a particular Rajput community. The Nayak are divided into sixteen subdivisions known as Nakh, and each Nakh is further divided into clans. Nakh names such as Bhati, Panwar and Rathore suggest their Rajput ancestry. Most Nayak are involved with farming or earn wages in various businesses. A few work in government services. Paleuji is their main deity and Kala Devi is one of their clan goddesses. They are a Scheduled Caste in Rajasthan.

Ministry Obstacles
The Thori or Nayak people speak 19 languages in India, and reside in 13 states.

Outreach Ideas
Jesus said to pray for more workers, for the harvest is ripe.

Pray for the followers of Christ
Even though there are likely no followers of Jesus among this caste at this time, there are believers in the state of Rajasthan, where most of the Thori live. Please pray for these believers to continue to grow in numbers and in spiritual maturity. Pray they will be able to impact their entire state with the Gospel.

Pray for the entire people group
Please pray this Scheduled Caste, one of the Dalit communities, will be able to escape the stigma of their low status. Pray for improved educational and skill levels in many areas.

Scripture Focus
