Tajik in Uzbekistan
TAH-jeek

Tajiks are one of the major people groups of Central Asia. They have repeatedly been invaded and conquered throughout their history. The armies of Alexander the Great, the Arabs in the seventh century, Genghis Khan, the Turks, the British and the Russian empire have all had a profound impact on these people. They live in tight-knit communities and are a very hospitable people whether in their own country of Tajikistan or in neighboring Uzbekistan.

Ministry Obstacles
Most Tajiks are Sunni Muslims, although some are Shia. A small portion are considered non-religious. They remain closed to the gospel.

Outreach Ideas
Pray for humanly impossible obstacles to the gospel to be overcome by the Holy Spirit. Pray that many would come together for prayer and fellowship in the greatest name, that of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Scripture Focus
"Beloved, do not imitate evil but imitate good. Whoever does good is from God; whoever does evil has not seen God."  3 John 1:11

Scripture Prayer
Pray that the Lord raises up pastors and teachers in this people group who set good examples and are able to teach the Bible.

Prayer Focus
There are very few known followers of Jesus Christ among Tajik people in Uzbekistan, so pray that this would change soon. Pray for a spiritual hunger among the Tajiks in Uzbekistan. Pray that many among these hospitable people would receive Christ's ambassadors as well as the Lord's blessings. Pray for a movement of Tajik households to study the Bible and accept the blessings of Christ.
