Mongallese Arab in South Sudan
MOHN-gah-leez AE-rub

Islam spread throughout much of North Africa from the 7th through the 11th centuries. During this time, it became much more common than in Sudan, where it was very hierarchical and mainly followed by the upper classes. One of these "upper class" people groups were the Mongallese in South Sudan. They speak Juba Arabic. A relatively high number believe in Jesus for a predominantly Muslim group in Africa.

Ministry Obstacles
Language is one of the biggest obstacles in sharing the gospel with the Mongallese Arab. Their distinct dialect and strong Islamic beliefs make it difficult for any solid movement to take root.

Outreach Ideas
Translating the Bible into their language is an important way to make the gospel message readily available.

Scripture Focus
"Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need."  Hebrews 4:16

Scripture Prayer
Pray for this people group to approach God’s throne of grace and receive the mercy and grace found in Jesus Christ.

Prayer Focus
Pray for peace and stability in South Sudan, so the people can thrive and the gospel can go forth. Pray for Mongallese Arabs to recognize their provider and savior, so they can put their trust in him. Pray for workers to be sent by the Holy Spirit. Pray for the Lord to send dreams and visions to Mongallese Arab leaders.
