Susu in Sierra Leone
SOO-soo

The Susu live mainly in the coastal areas of Guinea, Sierra Leone, Senegal and Mali. They tend to live where there are many marshes and waterways. They often favor marriages between cousins, and they live as an extended family group. The Susu combine their Islamic faith with traditional beliefs. They believe that ghosts, spirits and gods all inhabit the same land, and that witches have the power to change into animals and cause harm to their villages.

Ministry Obstacles
Spiritual forces influence the thinking of the Susu, and they need prayer to bring clarity and accuracy to their thoughts about the supernatural.

Outreach Ideas
The New Testament is available in the language of the Susu, as are other resources such as the JESUS Film. There is a need for workers to distribute these resources.

Scripture Focus
"That according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love,"  Ephesians 3:16-17

Scripture Prayer
Make this your prayer for today’s people group.

Prayer Focus
Pray the few followers of Jesus among the Susu people would be quick to turn from sin and would live holy and righteous lives. Pray for improved health care and good schools for the Susu and that parents would make schooling a priority for their children. Pray that God would release the people from bondage to spirits and that they would recognize Jesus as the One with the power to give them freedom from wicked spirits.
