Khattar in Pakistan
KUH-tar

Khattars are a prominent ethnic group in Punjab. They are generally prosperous, except for the very smallest land-holders or tenant farmers. Over the last 50 to 60 years, this tribe has intermarried with Kashmiri and Pashtun families. About two-thirds of Khattars in Pakistan are farmers. Most are small land holders but there are also big landowners among them as well. Urban Khattars live mostly in Rawalpindi and Lahore. Almost all Khattars are Muslims of the Sunni sect. Those in rural areas are very dedicated to Islam.

Ministry Obstacles
Nominal Christians who don't truly follow Christ's teachings may be an impediment to the Khattars. Pray the Khattars will be able to see that there is a difference between disciples of Christ and those who are Christian only in name.

Scripture Focus
"And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed."  Genesis 12:2-3

Scripture Prayer
Pray for many leaders in today’s people group to seek and find God’s blessings, which He intended to give to them since the beginning of time.

Prayer Focus
We know of no followers of Jesus among the Khattar community at present but pray for the ones who will soon come to Christ. Pray they would be zealous to learn of Christ and follow him. Pray they would keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Pray for the Khattar community to increasingly grow in awareness of Jesus (whom Muslims call Isa al-Masih), his life and his sacrifice for them. Pray the Lord would give them a hunger to know Christ and that he would satisfy that hunger.
