Danish Jewish in Denmark
DAY-nish joo

During World War II, many of the Jews in Denmark were evacuated to Sweden, where they managed to survive the Holocaust. They were not fully accepted into Danish society until recent years. Today, most are well educated and speak Danish, along with other European languages. The majority live in the cities of Copenhagen and Arhus.

Ministry Obstacles
Like the rest of European culture, younger Jews are becoming increasingly secular. They value education and career advancement while conservative Jews continue to resist being assimilated.

Outreach Ideas
Because many Jews have a basic understanding of God and his laws, sharing the truth that they have broken his commands and failed to live up to his standards could bring conviction. Without the sacrificial system to provide forgiveness, they desperately need the only savior.

Scripture Focus
"Who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases,"  Psalm 103:3

Scripture Prayer
Pray that this people group will flee to the Lord who alone can forgive sin.

Prayer Focus
Pray for the Lord to draw the attention of the Jews in Denmark away from their worldly pursuits and toward his offer of salvation. Ask God to open their eyes, hearts and ears to the good news of their Messiah. Pray for the Lord to raise up the right people to disciple the Danish Jews in his ways.
