Bandoumu in Gabon
ban-DOO-moo

You can find the Bandoumu people throughout regions of southern Republic of the Congo and southern Gabon. Like most of their neighbors, the Bandoumu are either farmers or livestock herders. They maintain an ethnic religion that is deeply rooted in their cultural identity. To change from this religion to another is tantamount to a betrayal of one's people.

Ministry Obstacles
The Bandoumu do not have decent roads leading to their communities, which makes access to them more difficult. There are also few resources in their language, but Bible translation is in process. The close ties between culture and religion for the Bandoumu also present a challenge in presenting the gospel.

Outreach Ideas
It is not uncommon for threads of the gospel to run through indigenous and local religions. In the same way that Jesus came as a fulfillment, not as an end of Judaism, it may be possible to pull back the curtain for the Bandoumu and show them the spiritual truths behind their traditions that can lead them to biblical truths.

Scripture Focus
"I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word."  Psalm 138:2

Scripture Prayer
Pray that many from this people group will delight in His promises, and seek His unfailing love.

Prayer Focus
Pray for Bandoumu believers to obey the teachings of the Bible and take the ways of Christ to others. Pray for the economic and infrastructural needs of the Bandoumu, especially easy access to potable water. Pray for indigenous missionaries to have a burden for their Bandoumu neighbors.
