Taznatit Berber in Algeria

The Taznatit are one of many Berber groups, and they are renowned for their expertise in various crafts. Domestic tasks, such as weaving and pottery, were the primary work of women. The men specialize in woodworking, metalworking, and, more surprisingly, fine needlework. Regarding labor, the men do most of the farming, while the women are responsible for milking and gathering. The Berbers are a people group that Muslim invaders conquered in the 7th century. The name "Berber" was given to them by the ancient Romans and is derived from the Latin word "barbarian." Today, "Berber" refers to anyone who speaks one of the Berber languages, though most prefer to be called Imazighen, meaning "men of noble origin".

Ministry Obstacles
There are few, if any, Christ followers among the Taznatit Berbers, and almost everyone nearby is Muslim. Islamic thinking is not challenged in their part of the world.

Scripture Focus
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."  Psalm 119:105

Scripture Prayer
Pray that many from this people group will discover this to be true for their own communities.

Prayer Focus
Pray for Taznatit Berbers to put their faith and hope in Christ, paving the way for a movement to Christ. Pray for a spiritual hunger among Taznatit Berbers that will lead them to the cross and the empty grave no matter what the cost. Pray for workers to go to Taznatits and find people who will welcome them into their communities with the gospel of peace.
