Jat (Muslim traditions) in Pakistan

After 1858, under the British Raj, the Jat were known respectfully for their service in the Indian Army. In fact, the group earned a reputation as a martial race by the British. Today, the Jat are one of the most prosperous groups in South Asian countries on a financial per capita basis. Jat farmers are also known for producing high yields, so they are also welcome in other parts of the world. Gender-based abortions are tragically common in Jat communities, with sons preferred over daughters. The priority placed on sons ensures that their children earn an education.

Ministry Obstacles
Islam causes a formidable obstacle to the Jat accepting the gospel. Statistics are currently unavailable regarding current followers of Christ in Canada who have a Muslim Jat background. For Muslim Jat to be willing to consider the claims of Christ, they will need community gatekeepers to see that Christ is the best option.

Prayer Focus
Pray for Jat Muslims to receive the spiritual hunger necessary to seek and find the Savior with gracious help from the Holy Spirit. May believers become invested in sharing the gospel with the Jats who surround them. Pray for the Lord to be welcomed by entire Muslim Jat families and clans so that they can enjoy the blessings of being children of the King of kings. Pray for a movement of Jesus to heal and strengthen Jat communities.
