Vakkaliga in India
WOH-kuh-LEE-gah

The Vakkaliga (or Vokkaliga) people have some serious spiritual problems in their beliefs and understanding of what it means to follow Christ. Animal husbandry and settled agriculture are the traditional occupations of this community. The men celebrate traditional harvest festivals, and only men can participate in their traditional Suggi Kunita dance.

Ministry Obstacles
Their misconceptions about what it means to know and follow Christ is a major ministry obstacle. The Apostle Paul cautioned Timothy, his son in Christ, to "rightly handle the word of truth" (2 Tim 2:15). Vakkaliga believers need for their pastors to earnestly seek the Lord to guide them as they teach their people.

Outreach Ideas
Believers among them need to share the light of Christ with their community leaders.

Scripture Focus
"Now I stand on solid ground and I will publicly praise the Lord."  Psalm 26:12

Scripture Prayer
Pray that many from today’s people group will allow their spiritual lives to be transformed by the Lord, and that they will begin to publicly praise Him.

Prayer Focus
Pray for the followers of Jesus Christ among the Vakkaliga to read their Bibles with open hearts, asking the Father to reveal His truth to them. May church leaders be touched by the Holy Spirit and convicted of their need to "rightly handle the word of truth." Pray for a powerful movement to Christ that will result in a purified and evangelistic Vakkaliga Church. Pray for the Lord to bless them in every way!
