Cuiba in Venezuela
KWEE-vuh

The Cuiba call themselves "Wamonae". The majority of them live in Colombia. About a third of the tribe lives in Venezuela. They make their home along the banks of several rivers. Fishing is important to them, as well as hunting and gathering fruit that grows wild nearby. Women make several handcrafts from materials they find in nature. Several attempts to displace them have been unsuccessful and they continue to live on traditional lands.

Ministry Obstacles
The Cuiba have a history of people from outside taking advantage of them. On one occasion not many decades ago, members of the tribe were lured away and killed in an effort to steal their land. There may be an understandable mistrust of outsiders, including missionaries.

Outreach Ideas
There are Cuiba believers in Colombia and Venezuela. These brothers and sisters could be encouraged to obey Christ's command to make him known among other members of their tribe.

Scripture Focus
"Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen."  Revelation 1:7

Scripture Prayer
Pray for this people group to rejoice at the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

Prayer Focus
Pray that the Cuiba believers would be strengthened in the faith. Pray they would reject adding anything to the simple gospel. Pray the Cuiba would know peace and protection from those who wish to trick them and take advantage of them. Pray they would have adequate health care and education that respects their community. Pray for a movement to Christ this decade.
