Bantu Somali in Somalia
BAN-too
The different Somali Bantu groups are united primarily because of the racial discrimination they face within Somalia. Most Somalis will not intermarry with Somali Bantus, and some will not even eat with them or enter their house. During the civil war in Somalia, Somali Bantu were one of the most vulnerable groups and suffered horribly at the hands of clan militias and criminal gangs. Many refugees have left Somalia.
Ministry Obstacles Fear that Christianity undermines their identity, communities and traditions is one way that Satan uses to hinder Somali Bantu communities from accepting Christ's blessings.
Scripture Focus "Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person." Colossians 4:5-6
Scripture Prayer Pray for new believers in this people group to have Holy Spirit-led words to say to their elders as they explain their new faith.
Prayer Focus Pray for a strong movement of the Holy Spirit will bring entire Somali Bantu families into a rich experience of God's blessing.
Pray for Somali Bantu to become and make disciples who will make even more disciples.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to give the Somali Bantu teachable and understanding hearts.
Pray that the Somali Bantu who know Christ will become wise in sowing the word of God among their families and friends.
Pray for them to live out attractive and holy lives that will draw Muslims to the only savior.
