Kaili Ledo in Indonesia

Family units are highly valued among the Kaili Ledo on Indonesia's Sulawesi Island. They give great honor and obedience to their parents and elders. The family always makes decisions collectively, and they especially value the traditions of their ancestors. Marriage arrangements are often a mix of Islamic and traditional influences. After marriage, the couple usually lives with one of their families until they have a child. The Kaili Ledo villages are relatively small and are situated along roads or waterways. The coastal Kaili Ledo grow wet rice and coconuts. A few villagers earn their living as traders or as government workers. Meanwhile, those living in the mountain region make a living by planting rice and corn.

Ministry Obstacles
The vast majority of the Kaili Ledo adhere to Islam. They take pride in their religious identity and strive to adhere to the five pillars of Islam. With such a strong allegiance to the principles outlined in the Koran, the Kaili Ledo typically remain resistant towards hearing the truth and the ways of Jesus Christ.
