Kayastha (Hindu traditions) in India
kay-AHS-tah

Though the Kayasthas live primarily in the Indian states of West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Delhi, some live further east in the Muslim nation of Bangladesh. In recent years, these well-educated Hindus have broken new ground and excelled in vocations other than those relating to writing and record-keeping. These highly educated Hindus will likely only give a hearing to gospel-sharing believers who are from a similarly high-status background. The Lord will need to raise up ambassadors for Christ who will walk in the fruit of the Holy Spirit and have enough patience and love for the Kayasthas to stay with them until they have their own movement to Christ.

Ministry Obstacles
Bangladesh and India do not allow for overt evangelism; workers will need to be discreet. Kayasthas hold high prestige. This could easily give them the false impression that they do not need a sin-free Savior.

Scripture Focus
"On the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will meditate."  Psalm 145:5

Scripture Prayer
Meditate on His goodness and splendor! Pray that many from today’s people group will do so as well.

Prayer Focus
Pray for the Lord to make his holy presence known among the Hindu Kayasthas. Pray for the Kayasthas to experience and share the blessings of Christ. Pray for gratitude to the one who gives life. There are few followers of Christ among the Kayasthas. Pray for the Holy Spirit to intervene in their community in such a way that it is clear that only Jesus Christ is worthy of their undivided devotion.
