Amma Kodaga in India

Due to their traditional military background, the Kodaga often worship weapons, such as swords, in some of their ceremonies. The Amma Kodaga reside in rural and forested areas, primarily engaging in agriculture and forestry. They cultivate crops like coffee, spices, and fruits. Many also gather forest products for additional income. Their communities are tightly-knit, with a strong emphasis on family and communal support. The Amma Kodaga uphold and enjoy their own cultural life, particularly on special occasions, such as traditional festivals, music, and dance. The Amma Kodaga community places a high value on family unity, hospitality, and reverence for elders, ensuring the transmission of religious and cultural traditions to future generations.

Ministry Obstacles
There is likely no single Christ follower among the Amma Kodagas, so they will need to hear the gospel from outsiders. In most traditional cultures, outsiders are not trusted until they demonstrate their trustworthiness for an extended period of time.

Scripture Focus
"That your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations."  Psalm 67:2

Scripture Prayer
Pray that His ways will soon be known by today’s people group.

Prayer Focus
Ask the Lord to inspire Amma Kodaga to seek, find, and embrace the only Savior. Ask God to send loving, dedicated workers to them from other parts of southern India. Pray their hearts will be open for a movement of disciples who will then be willing to disciple others.
