Gowari in India

The Gowari are a tribal community in central India, historically engaged in cattle grazing and now primarily working as cowherds and agricultural laborers. The government of India categorized this community as a Scheduled Tribe, known as the Gond Gowari. Hindu society gives them low status, and hence they have been kept down in the caste hierarchy. They primarily work as landless laborers for higher-caste landlords.

Ministry Obstacles
The Gowari practice a form of folk-influenced Hinduism and lack a personal concept of God, which can hinder gospel receptivity. Many live in poverty, without access to education, job training, or basic resources, making them vulnerable to social and spiritual neglect. Their marginalized status in society may also contribute to isolation from Christian witness.

Scripture Focus
"Being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy;"  Colossians 1:11-12

Scripture Prayer
May new believers among this people group walk in joy and love in the Holy Spirit.

Prayer Focus
Pray for a spiritual hunger that will give the Gowari a desire to investigate the claims of Jesus Christ. Pray for a movement to Christ that will bless the Gowari this decade. Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the Gowari and tell them the good news of Jesus Christ. Pray for the Lord to provide them with a record-high harvest as a testimony of his goodness and power.
