Tamiang in Indonesia

Tamiangs rarely move from their farms because their agricultural land is vast and fertile enough to support them. However, others, especially those in the plantation industry, attempt to move in and exploit the fertile soil. Educational and public health facilities are greatly needed to enhance their welfare. Most, if not all, of the Tamiang are Muslim. Despite this, many still carry out traditional ritual ceremonies, such as ceremonies for the successful planting of rice, harvesting of rice, and protection from natural disasters.

Ministry Obstacles
There are no known Christians among them, nor are there any in their part of Sumatra Island. This means they are unlikely to have any natural contact with Christians.

Scripture Focus
"Yet I will rejoice in the LORD; I will take joy in the God of my salvation."  Habakkuk 3:18

Scripture Prayer
Pray this people group would learn to rejoice in the Lord and His salvation.

Prayer Focus
Pray for the Lord to reach the Tamiang through dreams. Pray for Christians to be burdened for the Tamiang and labor to share the gospel with them. Pray for the Lord to raise up Tamiang disciples who will make more disciples.
