Kachari (Hindu traditions) in India

The Hindu Kachari have a cultural heritage and a history of significant contributions to the region. They are known for their unique architectural style, which reflects a blend of indigenous traditions and influences from neighboring areas. The Kachari work in agriculture. The women are good at weaving. Their religion is a mixture of local religion and Hinduism. Bihu, their main festival, is celebrated along with their neighbors. They also celebrate a festival each April, known as Taro Chira, which holds great importance.

Ministry Obstacles
Due to their cultural ties with Hinduism, some Kachari may find it difficult to ignore their traditions and religious beliefs. The Kachari need the hope, joy, and peace that only comes from being submitted to Jesus Christ. With few or no followers of Christ, they must hear of the only Savior from someone outside their community. Who will go to them?

Scripture Focus

Prayer Focus
Pray that council leaders come to Jesus Christ and lead their people into a movement to Christ. Pray that believers will faithfully pray for them and send workers to them. Pray that they will look past their traditional religious practices and come to the revelation of the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
