Bidio in Chad

Living in a semidesert, the Bidio must haul water from faraway sources. Finding clean water is a challenge. They are also resourceful people who make ropes, mats, and fans from palm fronds for their own use. They also make vessels and jars of clay for storing and transporting food and water. Most receive income from selling surplus millet and from transporting goods for others. The most common belief that unites all the different ethnic groups of the Bidio is their belief in invisible spirits that control the natural elements. This belief has survived the rapid conversion of most Bidio to Islam during the colonial period.

Ministry Obstacles
Approximately three percent of the population living near the Bidios identify as Christian. Most are animists, and nearly ten percent worship traditional nature spirits. Most of the Bidio have never heard the gospel even once and have no Scripture in their language. Although Bible translation is underway, low literacy levels continue to hinder access to the gospel.

"Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven."  Revelation 12:7-8

Scripture Prayer
Pray for this people group to understand that the Lord of hosts had already defeated the dragon, Satan, and his demons.

Prayer Focus
Pray for power encounters that will free the Bidio from destructive spirits so they can embrace Christ. Ask God to raise up loving missionaries, Christian educators, and medical workers for the Bidio. Ask God to raise up anointed translators. Pray this will be the decade of a massive movement to Christ among the Bidios.
