Dayak Pasir in Indonesia

The rich natural resources and fertile lands of the Dayak Pasir do not automatically make their life better. The income they earn is sufficient only for their own daily needs. One reason for this is that their means of transportation is limited. This makes it difficult for them to bring their products to market.

Ministry Obstacles
The Dayak Pasir are folk Muslims, still following their ancestors' beliefs. At harvest time, they give an offering to Sang Hiyang (the god of fertility) accompanied by the chanting of spells. They also perform besoyong, which is a prayer ceremony asking for the spirits of their ancestors to guard their safety.

Scripture Focus
"For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken."  Psalm 62:1-2

Scripture Prayer
Pray that many from this people group will make Christ the rock of their salvation this decade.

Prayer Focus
The Dayak Pasir live in remote areas in the jungle, and access is sometimes difficult. Pray for loving workers to go to them and help them with their physical needs. Pray for the Lord to send a powerful gospel witness to them. Pray for them to have the spiritual hunger it takes to respond to the claims of Jesus.
