Broq-Pa in India
Broq-Pa don't bathe often because they believe they will wash off good luck. They are a small multilingual ethnic group in Jammu and Kashmir, India, and in neighboring Pakistan and Nepal. They are subsidence farmers whose traditional belief says that gods and humans had lived with humans. The Broq-Pa commemorate the former unity with a dance that they believe will one day reunite them with the gods. Christian teachers can share how our forgiving God has made a way to reunite with them. The Broq-Pa wear headgear and a gown, and the headgear is decorated with flowers, beads, needles, ribbons, and buttons. Both men and women are fond of flowers as they believe adorning themselves daily with them pleases the gods. Men shave the front portion of their heads and have a long pigtail.
Ministry Obstacles Few Broq-Pa have heard the gospel. Although Christians live as their neighbors, faith has not taken root.
Scripture Focus "I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living! Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!" Psalm 27:13-14
Scripture Prayer Pray for many leaders from today’s people group to put their confidence in the goodness of God and wait faithfully for His deliverance.
Prayer Focus Pray for a redemptive analogy that shows how Christ unites the Broq-Pa to God.
Pray for the authority of Christ to bind hindering spiritual forces to lead them from darkness to light.
Pray for signs and wonders among them and for great breakthroughs with a rapid multiplication of disciples and house churches.
Pray for bold workers who are driven by the love of the Lord to go to them.
Pray for an unstoppable movement to Christ among them.
