Momna in India

The Momna, also goes by the name Momin, has their name etymology from an Arabic term meaning "true follower of the faith." Originally identified as Hindus, they converted to Islam later and began primarily residing in Gujarat and Maharashtra, with niche populations in Tamil Nadu and Pakistan. They are mainly farmers and caste association is prevalent in their community. The Momna are divided into three main Islamic subdivisions: Sunni, Shia and Wahabi. These three live separately and rarely intermarry. These divisions have caused major rifts within the Momna community.

The Momna face significant challenges, including divisions between religious sects, which hinder unity in the community. Additionally, they also encounter external persecution from Hindu extremist groups in Gujarat. These factors aid in creating a hostile

Pray for hidden believers among the Momna to experience protection and joy in the Holy Spirit and to share their faith journey to encourage non-believers. Pray for peaceful relationships between Sunni, Shia and Wahabi groups within the Momna Muslim community.
