Seith-Kaitetu in Indonesia

The Seit-Kaitetu's primary livelihood comes from farming and fishing. Typical crops include sago palm, cloves, nutmeg, and coffee. Before leaving shore, Muslim dominant-believing fishermen usually pray to their god for protection and blessings. Each catch is used first to meet daily needs to feed themselves, and then the surplus is sold for additional income. This people group seeks to enhance their income by selling traditional products made from eggshells and mother-of-pearl. They use such materials to create jewelry products, including brooches, wall decorations, and souvenirs, in various shapes and sizes. These individuals' socio-cultural and economic characteristics align with those of groups from the surrounding areas. Thus, the villages and surroundings are neat and well-ordered.

Ministry Obstacles
With a slim minority of Christ followers in their villages or families, the Seit-Kaitetu see no reason to consider their spiritual conditions outside of an Islamic belief system.

Scripture Focus
"They have lyre and harp, tambourine and flute and wine at their feasts, but they do not regard the deeds of the LORD, or see the work of his hands."  Isaiah 5:12

Scripture Prayer
Pray that many from this people group will notice and respond to what God is doing.

Prayer Focus
There are currently Christ followers among other peoples on Ambon Island and others nearby. Pray for the Lord to direct them to reach out to the Seit-Kaitetu with God's love and compassion. Pray for the Lord to use dreams and visions to get the attention of the Seit-Kaitetu family leaders to seek Jesus alone. Pray for disciples to make more disciples in Seit-Kaitetu villages.
