Krio Fulani in Sierra Leone
CREE-oh foo-LAH-nee

Surprisingly, the Krio Fulanis don't eat the meat from their cattle except for ceremonial purposes. The Krio Fulanis are traditionally nomadic, pastoral, trading people herding cattle, goats, and sheep. The "herd owner's feast" is one such ceremony, during which they kill and eat a 10-year-old bull. They are known as skilled traders. Their villages are scattered, but each has a central court and a mosque. The homes of the settled Fulani are round with clay walls and thatched roofs projecting over encircling porches. The Fulani live in simple, portable structures, as they often move with their herds.

Ministry Obstacles
The Krio Fulani are largely Muslim, but most still follow traditional beliefs. In many parts of Africa, the Muslim Fulanis are at odds with Christian farmers, providing a considerable barrier to gospel witness. It's difficult to reach nomadic peoples with the gospel unless one is willing to live their lifestyle. Few are willing.

Scripture Focus
"Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon."  Isaiah 55:7

Scripture Prayer
Pray for true and lasting repentance to come to this people group.

Prayer Focus
Ask the Lord to send evangelists, church planters, and others who can help improve the standard of living of the Krio Fulani. Ask the Holy Spirit to grant wisdom and favor to any mission agencies focusing on the Krio Fulani. Ask God to strengthen, protect, and grant boldness to the few Krio Fulani believers. Ask God to raise up intercessors who will stand in the gap for those Krio Fulani believers as they share God's love with their friends and neighbors.
