Messiria Zurug in Sudan

The Mirisia Zuruk live in ten main villages in the remote Nuba Mountains in the state of South Kordofan, Sudan. They speak Sudanese Arabic. Some remain nomadic, but these people are being forced to settle. They farm sorghum, corn, beans, and ground nuts. They also raise cattle, sheep, and goats. The Mirisia Zuruk have one primary school, which is not enough for their needs. Their livestock, which is their livelihood, is suffering from a lack of food and water. They are having trouble adjusting to sedentary lives.

Ministry Obstacles
The Mirisia Zuruk are Muslim. They believe in Allah for salvation, but in their daily lives, they put their faith in the spirit world. They do not understand the centrality of Christ. It would be a strange notion to them.

Scripture Focus
"Hear, O my people, while I admonish you! O Israel, if you would but listen to me!"  Psalm 81:8

Scripture Prayer
Pray for this people group to heed God’s warning and listen to Him!

Prayer Focus
Pray for an abundant blessing of Mirisia Zuruk families and communities as they are drawn to embrace Jesus Christ. Pray for a powerful awakening that draws their hearts to Christ, and that will enrich the Mirisia Zuruk community. Pray for spiritual openness to Jesus Christ, unhindered by traditional spiritual beliefs that may stand in the way of the living faith in Jesus.
