Borana speaking Ajuran in Kenya
AH-joo-rahn

The Ajurans, like the other Somali tribes of Northern Kenya, have traditionally lived a nomadic lifestyle. Their way of life is dictated by the semi-arid climate, which features two distinct rainy seasons. They follow water and pasture for their animals, which include cattle, camels, goats, sheep, donkeys, and mules. The animals provide their livelihood. In areas where the land is suitable for farming, settled populations cultivate crops such as corn, millet, sorghum, fruits, and vegetables. The area in which the Ajuran live has relatively high rainfall, which provides good pasture for their animals. However, this blessing has on many occasions become troublesome to them in terms of marauding neighbors who also need the same resources. Periodic intrusions by others have resulted in clashes. Today, the Ajuran allow others to live and pasture their animals in their communal land.

Ministry Obstacles
Muslims like the Ajurans consider Jesus to be a prophet, a teacher, and a good man, but not God's son. They believe that they will be judged by their good works and by their knowledge of the Koran. Most deny Jesus was crucified, which turns them away from God's only way of redemption.

Scripture Focus
"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him."  James 1:5

Scripture Prayer
Pray for this people group to begin to seek the wisdom of God that is found in His word.

Prayer Focus
Ask God to send medical missionaries and supplies to help meet the needs of the Ajuran. Pray for God to anoint the gospel as it is presented to the Ajuran via radio and television. Ask the Holy Spirit to soften their hearts towards Christians. Ask God to make the Ajurah receptive to the gospel and to raise up strong local churches among them.
