Arain (Muslim traditions) in Pakistan

The Arain are Muslims who claim Arab origin and are thought to have migrated to the subcontinent with Muhammad Bin Qasim and then did not return due to fear of persecution by the then rulers in Damascus. When the British wanted land developed in the Punjab after its annexation, Arains were brought in to cultivate the land around the cities. The Arain were favored for their hard work, frugality and sense of discipline. They have a legacy of contributions to politics and in the practice of law. They are well educated.

Ministry Obstacles
Arain families are shamed in their communities if individuals become Christians. They do not understand that following Jesus will bring a blessing to their entire community.

Scripture Focus
"And you warned them in order to turn them back to your law. Yet they acted presumptuously and did not obey your commandments, but sinned against your rules, which if a person does them, he shall live by them, and they turned a stubborn shoulder and stiffened their neck and would not obey."  Nehemiah 9:29

Scripture Prayer
Pray that when this people group hears the word that they will respond with heart-felt obedience.

Prayer Focus
Ask God to send loving, committed workers to the Arain soon! Ask God to draw the Arain families to the truth of Jesus (whom Muslims call Isa al-Masih), and to the Bible to find out more about this man. Ask God to use dreams and visions of Christ to make them curious enough to ask questions of real believers. Ask the Lord to start a movement of Arain families experiencing God's blessing and sharing it with other families.
