Teli (Muslim traditions) in Pakistan
TEL-ee

In Matthew 13, Jesus calls the mustard seed the smallest of all seeds. For the Teli, this small seed is significant for the Teli's traditional work is pressing the oil from mustard and sesame seeds. The word Teli is derived from a Sanskrit word meaning "oil pressed from seeds." Most Teli now depend on the land for their living. Oil pressing has been replaced with cash crops, small businesses, and trading, although many are still engaged in oil pressing.

Ministry Obstacles
The Teli have little concept of a loving creator God who is willing to forgive their sins and give them an abundant life. There are a few followers of Christ among the Teli. As Muslims, they are taught that the way to please God is through obedience to the teachings of Mohammed. The Teli community is large and speaks several languages. The Teli have both material and spiritual needs including adequate education for their children.

Scripture Focus
"May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ."  2 Thessalonians 3:5

Scripture Prayer
May today’s people group find full understanding of the love of God.

Prayer Focus
Pray for spiritual hunger and a desire for the "oil" of the Holy Spirit to guide their families and communities. Pray for the Lord to thrust out loving workers who will not stop until Teli Muslim leaders have heard of the saving power of Christ. Pray for teams of workers to preach the good news to the Teli communities in their various languages.
