Jingar in India

Jingar obtained their name from the word jins, meaning "saddle." This refers to their traditional occupation of crafting saddles for horses and camels. According to their oral tradition, these scheduled caste members were once part of one of the Rajput communities until an avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu attempted to eradicate this community. They still make saddles, but many of them also make embroidered shoes. A few of them also work in agriculture. They sell their goods in the market. Often their children work. They would like to save money to get ahead, but they seldom can make ends meet financially.

Ministry Obstacles
Few, if any, Jingar have ever accepted the lordship of Jesus Christ. However, there are various gospel materials in the their language that they can access. Although there are plenty of Christian materials available, they need to be distributed among them.

Scripture Focus
"Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me."  Psalm 51:2-3

Scripture Prayer
Pray for true heart-felt repentance to come to leaders of this people group.

Prayer Focus
Pray for missionaries' ease of access to reach the Jingar communities with gospel materials. Pray for the Jingar elders and decision-makers to have dreams and visions of the sovereign Christ. Pray for spiritual openness to the things of Christ. Pray for Christ to heal them in such a way that they no longer put their faith in shamans.
