Ta'oih in Vietnam

Every Ta'oih village, or vel, has a large community or meeting home. Animal horns and bird feathers adorn the gathering place. Folk music, an integral part of their daily lives, reflects their mood and includes lullabies, love songs, and classical pieces accompanied by gongs, wind instruments, and stringed instruments. Due to their skill at hunting and taming elephants, the Ta'oih tribe generates more income than most other mountain peoples. New uses of agricultural machinery, irrigation projects, and other local industries have enabled them to achieve better crop yields. They also dig ponds and raise fish. In Ta'oih society, there is a distinct division between the wealthy and the impoverished.

Ministry Obstacles
The strong sense of community among the Ta'oih prevents many from considering that their entire community could be wrong about spiritual matters. Although strong communities are beneficial, they can also isolate people from the gospel.

Scripture Focus
"For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? For what can a man give in return for his soul?"  Mark 8:36-37

Scripture Prayer
Pray for today’s people group to come to realize that all the spiritual riches of life and true wisdom are found in Jesus Christ alone.

Prayer Focus
Pray for Ta'oih decision-makers to open their communities to Christ's ambassadors. Pray that a family-based movement to Christ will soon transform Ta'oih society, blessing them spiritually and economically. Pray that the hearts of the Ta'oih would be stirred to hunger after God, to drink of living water. Pray for the Lord to move in the hearts of believers to sacrifice their lives to see the Ta'oih blessed by the work of Jesus Christ, the only Savior.
