Bhunjia in India

Bhunjia are listed as a Scheduled Tribe of India, which means they receive government benefits others might not. They have two major groups, namely Chokutia and Chinda, in the states of Chhattisgarh and Odisha. In some villages, they live with people of other castes called Magi. Their livelihood is agriculture. In Odisha, some people are involved in animal husbandry and fishing. A few of them are employed as teachers, while others collect and sell firewood.

Ministry Obstacles
Not only are there very few Christ followers among them, but they live in parts of India where hardly anyone bows their knees to Jesus Christ.

Scripture Focus
"But I will declare it forever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob."  Psalm 75:9

Scripture Prayer
Pray for many from today’s people group to tell of God’ wondrous deeds to their families.

Prayer Focus
Pray that God will send culturally sensitive workers who will show them the way to the cross. Pray for a movement to Christ to flourish among this people group. Pray for the Bhunjia to be blessed with peace, joy, and spiritual prosperity as they follow Jesus Christ.
