Northern Uzbek in Uzbekistan
OOZ-bek

The ancestors of the Uzbeks aided Genghis Khan in his conquest of Eastern Europe in the 1300s. As unity between the Turks and Mongols faded, numerous warring kingdoms formed. It was from several of these kingdoms that the Uzbeks descended.

Ministry Obstacles
Uzbeks had communism forced on them by the Russians during the days of the USSR. Many now desire to return to their Islamic cultural roots. Others have embraced a secular mindset.

Scripture Focus
"He entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption."  Hebrews 9:12

Scripture Prayer
Pray for this people group to come to comprehend that the blood of animals will never get them right with the one, true God. Pray that they realize that only the blood of Christ can forgive their sins and gain for them eternal life.

Prayer Focus
Pray for the families and communities in this large people group to discover and embrace the truth about the prophet Isa (Jesus). Pray that the Uzbeks would understand that Jesus died and rose again so they could experience eternal life with God. Pray that Uzbek believers would effectively engage their families and communities with Bible stories and the gospel message. Pray for workers to share God's word with Uzbek families.
